The First Symposium on Supply Chain and Logistics in Qatar: Fostering Resilience in a Disruptive Era
Doha, Qatar – November 22, 2023 – College of Business and Economics at Qatar University, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Lean Construction Institute (LCI)-Qatar are co-hosting the inaugural Symposium on Supply Chain and Logistics (SCL) in Qatar. The symposium will address the critical need for effective and resilient supply chains across all industries in the face of increasing supply chain disruptions.
The symposium will take place on December 3-4, 2023, at the Hilton Doha Hotel, and will feature a range of speakers, including industry experts, policymakers, and researchers. They will share their insights on various topics related to developing more resilient supply chain systems and practices, such as:
- Effective Supply Chain and Logistics Processes and Best Practices
- Supply Chain Disruption Events and Risk Management
- Supply Chain Agility, Resilience, and Responsive Plans
The symposium is open to anyone interested in learning more about building resilient supply chains, including government officials, business executives, SCL practitioners, scholars, researchers, and students.

Dr. Said Elbanna, Director of Center for Entrepreneurship & Organizational Excellence- College of Business and Economics (CEOE), emphasized the importance of building agile and resilient supply chain systems in today’s business operations. “The symposium will explore innovative solutions and best practices to help businesses in Qatar adapt to disruptions and maintain a competitive edge,” he said.

This symposium will serve as a catalyst for fostering collaboration among indust ry professionals, policymakers, and academia to strengthen Qatar’s economic resilience and competitiveness. We hope to address some of the supply chain issues that firms are facing in Qatar,” said Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi, General Manager of Qatar Chamber of Commerce, and Industry.
Al Sharqi also emphasized that the development of supply chains and logistic services is fundamental for inclusive economic growth. This aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which aims to position the country as a global hub for logistics and transportation, foster local industry, and implement sustainable supply chain practices.
