LCI Qatar Research Competition

LCI-Qatar in collaboration with Qatar University (College of Engineering and College of Business & Economics-Center for Entrepreneurship and Organizational Excellence) is conducting the first research competition (conducting research or writing case studies) in the areas of lean, lean startup and lean construction in Qatar.

The aim of the competition is to spread the awareness and to promote lean thinking in Qatar and hence support a positive transformation of the relevant industries in Qatar. This transformation includes (but not restricted to) performance enhancement, generating value, eliminating waste, increasing efficiency and maximising productivity. As such, this competition will not only facilitate the enhancement of the research activities in the lean area, but it will also increase the engagement of faculty members, researchers and students with industry which is a key component for knowledge and practice advancement.

IMPORTANT NOTES

The following broad areas explain the scope of the competition:

Spreading awareness of lean, lean thinking, lean construction and lean startup in Qatar
Helping to promote understanding of the benefits of lean and the tools supporting its implementation
Application of lean to startups, construction enterprise management, design, construction, procurement, supply chain management, health & safety, sustainability etc…
Challenges to current thinking

Timelines: Proposals can be submitted during the period from Feb 23, 2023 to May 31, 2023.

All faculty members, researchers and students from different colleges (and other institutions in Qatar) as well as industry professionals from public and private sectors in Qatar can participate in this competition and submit their short research proposals or full case studies in English or Arabic through the following submission box.

Submission by faculty, students, industry professionals or their teams. There are five prizes, 10,000 QR each.

Lean Construction Education Program (LCEP) of AGC
LCI-Q has entered in a collaboration agreement with the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) to facilitate Lean Construction Education Program (LCEP) and the examination of Certificate of Management – Lean Construction (CM-Lean) in the Middle East. CM-Lean exam will be offered on Saturdays at Qatar University.
