Planning and Purpose are essential for building a high performing project culture capable of delivering high value work quickly. Planning needs to be dynamic and resilient, meaning that plans can be rapidly adapted to new and sometimes unforeseen information across a coordinated project team. Purpose needs to be shared and meaningful for people to develop relationships of trust and mutual support. Without shared purpose, dynamic planning efforts become uncoordinated, and work becomes chaotic. Without dynamic planning, shared purpose cultures are tranquil, and work becomes unproductive.
Dynamic planning and shared purpose have historic roots extending back several millennia that play a role in Lean design and construction today. Tom will present research and experience that describes how to leverage both the untapped potential of the Last Planner System® and a method for developing and connecting a meaningful purpose to your project team.
