Welcome to LCI-Q!

It gives me a great honor to introduce the Lean Construction Institute, which was founded in 1997 in USA, to Qatar. With its multitude of benefits, global coverage, and as a promising investment for the future, LCI-Q aims to be a pioneering stockholder collaborating with local and global partners to develop and disseminate new knowledge and modern techniques in construction projects in Qatar. It remains in the best interest for all stakeholders, not just during the construction phase, but throughout project lifecycle to integrate Lean principles to eliminate wastes, and minimize time and efforts in order to generate value, maximize productivity, enhance efficiency, and continually improve.

The vision, mission, and objectives of LCI-Q have been developed to be aligned with the 2^nd National Development Strategy. Quoting a great leader, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, when he addressed the nation at the opening of Advisory Council (Al Shura) in November 2016, you may note the inspiration of Lean principles:

“We have taken advantage of the drop in prices to explore the potential for rationalizing spending, and distinguishing necessary from unnecessary as well as beneficial from non-beneficial. Work will continue on increasing the efficiency of public spending and enhancing transparency and control through a close follow-up of all government projects and programs and focusing on major development projects.”

Lean Construction is not just for construction site personnel, but reaches out to the entire supply-chain including owners, architects, authorities, designers, engineers, constructors, subcontractors, suppliers and even end-users (operators).

Going forward, I am pleased to inform you that we are currently working with academic institutions in Qatar to develop research and education programs in Lean Construction while we continue to approach governmental and private organizations to join forces in spreading Lean Thinking, practices, and culture.

We are also working to bringing professional management on board and develop a rich calendar for the upcoming year. Therefore, please do take some time to explore the LCI-Q website to find events and introductory readings, which shall be regularly updated.

To conclude, I am profoundly thankful to the countless number of amazing people including collaborating partners, sponsors, core-team, members, and volunteers who have contributed in making this happen.

I and the entire pioneering team earnestly look forward to welcoming you all on December 11, 2019 where we shall be formally launching LCI-Qatar.
